Alwar is both a city and the administrative headquarters of Rajasthans
Alwar district. Located around 160 kilometres south of
Delhi, it is part of the National Capital Region (NCR). A major river near the city is the Ruparail River.
Alwar, which also boasts rich mineral wealth, produces marble, granite, dolomite, quartz, limestone, copper clay, among other things. It is famous for its olive plantation in Tinkirudi.
The residents of this city belong to diverse communities, such as Rajput, Brahmin, Jat, Ahir, Meo, Khanzada, and Gujjar.
Alwar is also known for a variety of Ayurvedic and Unani medicinal Products.
City infrastructure
A 180-km rail route between
Delhi and
Alwar has been approved by the Railway Board. According to the proposal, this route will connect
Alwar to
Delhi via
Gurgaon and
Rewari. An investment of over Rs 32 crore will be made in this route, which will reduce travel time and ensure better transport facilities to the local people. The line will be connected to the Metro under the regional rapid rail system. The city also is home to a number of schools and colleges.
The
Alwar-Sohna-
Gurgaon Highway is being broadened to six lanes, while the
Jaipur-
Delhi Railway Line passes through
Alwar. The seven towns of the
Alwar district have been sanctioned Rs 285 crore for undertaking drinking water projects taking into account the industrial importance of the area. The industrial development of this city has been taking place at a rapid clip. The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has developed 15 industrial zones in the district.

Alwar that offer great real estate properties. There has been a steady rise in property prices due to an all-round development in the city and more people relocating here for jobs. Some of the favourable conditions that have led to the growth of real estate market in

Itarana, etc. Naldeshwar is an enticing destination in the vicinity for trekking lovers. A national treasure and a cultural artefact exists here in the form of Fairy Queen, the oldest working engine in the world. Built in 1855, the train is now used for tourists viewing pleasure.
