      Circle Rate Hike Proposed In Gurgaon For The Third Time This Year

      At a time when real estate developers in the city were pinning their hopes on the festive season to revive sales, the Gurgaon administration has proposed to raise circle rates by up to 25 per cent. This could be this year’s third rate hike; rates were earlier hiked in February and April, each time by up to 15 per cent. The revised rates will come into effect on October 19.

      Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway May Cut Travel Time By 8 Hours         

      Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that work on the Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway would start soon. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is a greenfield access-controlled highway developed at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore and will take three years for completion. Aimed at reducing the travel time between the two cities from 20 hours to 12 hours, the project will also have a new alignment covering several backward areas of the country and lead to industrial growth.

      Delhi To Have London-Like Metro-Rail Interlinked Corridor

      The National Capital Region Transport Corporation is planning to link the Delhi Metro with high-speed railway network that will bring down the travel time between the national capital and the cities that fall under the NCR. The project, which is estimated to cost Rs 1 lakh crore, is expected to cater to over 20 lakh commuters daily. The completion deadline for the project is yet to be finalised.

      State-Run NBCC To Build Affordable Homes

      While plans are underway to get on-board the National Building Construction Corporation to efficiently manage seized properties of defaulters, the state-run firm has also unveiled its plan to lend a helping hand to the government in meeting its housing-for-all-by-2022 target. Media reports say the NBCC plans to build over one lakh affordable housing units across major states of the country in the next five years. The total cost of carrying out the project is pegged at Rs 10,000 crore. The company might start work on such projects this year itself.
