Overview

Banashankari is located in the southern part of Bengaluru. It derives its name from the Banashankari Amma Temple on Kanakapura Road. Constructed by Subramanya Shetty in 1915, it is one of Bengalurus oldest and most famous temples.
Extending all the way from Mysore Road to Kanakapura Road, Banashankari is the largest locality in the city. It is surrounded by popular areas such as J P Nagar, Jayanagar, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Padmanabhanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, and Uttarahalli.
Banashankari Stage 6 is the closest to Jayanagar. It is home to eminent personalities, and also boasts of two hills, Banagiri and Devagiri. The former is known for Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple, while the latter for Venkateshwara Temple. While the first and third stages of Banashankari have a predominantly Kannada speaking population, the second stage and all its sub-localities is essentially a cosmopolitan area. It is in fact, the chief commercial area of Banashankari, along with Kathriguppe. It has within its peripheries, localities such as Kadirenahalli, Yarabnagar, Karesandra, and Kaveri Nagar.

Connectivity

Outer Ring Road and 80 Feet Road are two important roads connected with Banashankari. Sri Vidyanagar Station is the nearest railway station, at a distance only 1.5 kilometres. Other nearby stations includes Srinagar, Ashok Pillar, Ranganathan Colony, and Govindaraja Nagar. The City Junction Railway Station is 5.1 kilometres away. Two airports can be accessed from this area, the HAL International Airport and Kempegowda International Airport, at distances of 12 and 34 kilometres, respectively. BMTC buses, and Volvo bus facilities further facilitate the connectivity.

With a sound transport system and close proximity to prime locations, Banashankari has risen to be one of the most preferred residential destinations of Bengaluru. Many renowned developers have expressed their interest in this locality, and some large-scale projects have already been launched. The property rates have also seen a significant rise in the last few years.
