Barapullah Road Phase II and III will make the commute easier between east and south Delhi. The stretch when operational would start at Mayur Vihar Metro station and would end at Aurobindo Marg and INA Market. The total commute time from east Delhi to airport will come down to 40 minutes. The corridor would also connect NH-24 and NH-8, providing a signal-free ride to the commuters plying towards south Delhi.

The ferry service for a few kilometres between Tronica City and Sonia Vihar will commence once the monsoon subsides. The idea is to develop it as a major tourist attraction. The project will be funded by the Inland Waterways Authority of India which has approved Rs 7.55 crore for the trial project.

Since “all obstacles have been removed”, the 29-kilometre Dwarka Expressway could be ready in another one-and-a-half year, says Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority Chief Executive Officer V Umashankar. The project, aimed at decongesting the Delhi-Gurgaon highway, was stuck owing to land acquisition issues at New Palam Vihar and Kherki Daula.

In a move to curb the problem at ground level, different civic authorities are asking housing societies to take up waste management at ground level. While the Ghaziabad Development Authority has directed housing societies spread over 2,000 sqm to have a designated space for a waste treatment plant if they want to get the building plan approved, Delhi’s civic agencies have piloted a project asking housing societies to turn wet waste into compost.

The Delhi Development Authority and other city civic bodies might soon face legal action, including registration of FIRs, in case any illegal construction is reported in their respective jurisdiction. This has been laid under the action plan being prepared by the Centre.
