Property for rent in Defence Colony Delhi

Started in 2006, the redevelopment work is far from completion but might get on track as the Bombay High Court has cleared the deck for the construction work to start. The project was in litigation due to a rule imposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation that the developer must execute a permanent agreement with the old homeowners to get the construction commencement certificate. As the Bombay HC has set aside this condition, the work might begin soon.

The line III of the Mumbai Metro is a 33.5-km underground corridor from Colaba in south Mumbai to Seepz in the north via Bandra. It is being implemented in phases with the first phase from Aarey Milk Colony to the airport to be thrown open by March 2021 while the second phase from Cuffe Parade is expected to open in December same year. Developed at an estimated cost of Rs 23,136 crore, the project will have 21 stations and advanced features to prevent subway flooding during rains.

The Supreme Court has halted further constructions in 1,797 colonies of Delhi, which are not in conformity with the building bye laws. The top court has asked the Centre to set up a special task force to oversee enforcement of laws regarding illegal constructions. Also, the Delhi High Court has warned the Delhi government of a time bomb in the making owing to its vested interest of regularising illegal constructions with the support of municipal corporations.

In a move to curb the problem at ground level, different civic authorities are asking housing societies to take up waste management at ground level. While the Ghaziabad Development Authority has directed housing societies spread over 2,000 sqm to have a designated space for a waste treatment plant if they want to get the building plan approved, Delhi’s civic agencies have piloted a project asking housing societies to turn wet waste into compost.

The Mumbai Metro Line II is being constructed in two sub-phases with 18-km line 2A between Dahisar and DN Nagar; and the 23-km line 2B between DN Nagar and Mankhurd. Construction works begun in 2016 and the DMRC plans to open one part of this line (2A) for the public by 2020.
