Trivandrum, also known as Thiruvananthapuram, is the capital city in the state of
Kerala. It lies on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland. The city hosts several central and state government offices and organisations. It is not only the political nerve centre of the state, but also an academic hub. Categorized as a tier II city,
Trivandrum is one of the 10 greenest cities in India.
City Infrastructure
This is the only city in the state to have a scientific sewage treatment facility. As far as transport is concerned,
Trivandrum enjoys smooth road connectivity via the NH 47 and the Main Arterial Road (MC Road). Both the Ste-owned KSRTC and private buses facilitate intra-city public transport. Many interstate buses also ply to major cities such as
Chennai and
Bangalore, besides other destinations in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and
Hyderabad. This city falls under the Southern Railway Zone of the Indian Railway. There are 5 railway stations in the city limits, enabling easy rail connectivity to almost all key cities in India, including New

Kollam-Chengannur. The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is the third largest airport of the state, and provides direct connectivity to the Middle East, Singapore, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
