Vellore is a city in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Situated about 145 kilometres west of the state capital
Chennai, this city lies on the banks of Palara River in the north-eastern part of the state. This region takes credit for being the top exporter of finished leather goods in the country. It is also home to numerous manufacturing and automobile companies. The city is also a site of medical tourism in India.

The most prominent landmark in the city is the
