A city in Maharashtra named after the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, Aurangabad is a hub of tourism, being surrounded by several historical monuments. It is also witnessing the development of a new Nagpur-Aurangabad-Mumbai express highway.
When it comes to rail transport, Aurangabad boasts excellent connectivity to various locations, with a project in the pipeline for the Solapur-Aurangabad-Jalgaon route that is proposed to connect the city with the northern and southern parts of India. The fastest train connecting Aurangabad to Mumbai is the Aurangabad Jan Shatabdi Express.
Aurangabad has also been chosen as one of the cities to be developed under the Centres Smart Cities Mission which will lead to an even better infrastructure here in the future. A cricket stadium matching international standards is also being constructed in place of the Aurangabad District Cricket Association stadium.
