Arakkonam is a municipality town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a part of the Vellore District and is located 69 kilometres from Chennai. The location has historical significance and was earlier named Arunthamizh Kundram. The town is also one of the important junctions of Indian Railways in South India. Arakkonam Junction Railway Station is the third largest railway junction in Vellore district near Vellore Katpadi and Jolarpet. The region is also well connected to Chennai International Airport.
