Home Sutra: Where Should You Keep That Money Plant?
Money plant is one of the most common indoor plants. The tropical creeper plant, characterised by its lush and shiny heart-shaped leaves, is popular for its ornamental appeal and numerous health benefits. Modern furnishings sometimes generate synthetic materials or pollutants which can impact the indoor air quality. Money plants possess the ability to filter the air and activate positive energies all around. The plant is also believed to attract wealth and prosperity wherever it is grown, hence the name.
So, if you are planning to pot this evergreen vine in your home or office, keep in mind the below mentioned Vastu guidelines.
Directions to keep the money plant
According to Vastu experts, the plant should be kept in the southeast corner of the living room for good luck and prosperity. The southeast direction is ruled by planet Venus and owned by Lord Ganesha. The deities govern the aspects of wealth and luck, respectively. Growing the plant in the Vastu compliant direction can enhance the flow of finances in the household. The plant should not be kept in north or east walls or even in northeast or Ishanya corner. Doing so can lead to loss of money and health issues. This is explained by the fact that planets Venus and Jupiter - who rules northeast direction – are incompatible with each other. This might result in conflict and losses.
Things to remember
*Vastu strongly recommends keeping money plant indoors, and not in the garden area.
*You can keep Money plant in the bedroom. But if you must, you could place it either on the left or the right side of the bed. Under no circumstances should the plant be kept near the headrest or the footrest of the bed, say Vastu experts.
*Sharp corners in your home are a source of stress and negativities, says Vastu. An arrangement of money plants in such corners can help minimise stress or anxiety levels.
*Wilted leaves not only make the plant appear less attractive but also send negative energies across. Ensure that you water and prune the plant regularly.
*Money plants also absorb radiations and can be kept near the television, the computer and Wi-fi routers.
*Make sure that the stem and leaves of the plant do not fall or creep on the floor as it is inauspicious and affects relationships between family members.
How to maintain the money plant
*Money plants are easily grown through stem cuttings and can be placed either in a water-filled vessel or in a plant pot.
*It is important to replace the water regularly. These climbers reach a maximum height of 20 metre.
*This is one peculiar household plant which requires minimum care. It can be kept in partial shade. It needs to be watered occasionally in 10 days, and more frequently if the indoor air is dry.
*Prune the plant regularly and carefully as it is believed to grow very long. Remove the dry or yellow coloured leaves to keep the plant healthy and to arrest spreading of negative energies.
