      New Development Plan: Taller Mumbai Will Have 10 L Affordable Homes By 2034

      The Maharashtra government has sanctioned the Mumbai Development Control and Promotion Regulations 2034. The new plan is expected to open up over 3,700 hectares of land in the city’s no-development zone and salt-pan land. This large tract of land is likely to be used for developing residential real estate in the affordable category. According to the plan, nearly 10 lakh affordable houses will be constructed by 2034. It was earlier this year that the DCPR 2034 was passed by the government.

      Govt Launches Amaravati’s First Housing Project

      On October 31, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu released the brochure and logo of Amaravati Happy Nest, the first government-sponsored housing project in Amaravati. Located in Nelapadu, the project spans 14.46 acres and will have as many as 1,200 flats for sale. Up for grabs are 2BHK and 3BHK flats spread across 18 towers, each 12-floor high. The units at the project are priced at Rs 3,492 per sq ft. A web-portal has been created to invite applications which will be open from November 9.

      Construction Banned In NCR As Air Quality Worsens

      Terming Delhi's air quality as hazardous, the Supreme Court-appointed Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority on October 27 announced a blanket ban on construction work in the national capital region till November 10. Delhi's air quality continued to remain in the “very poor" category on October 29 as a thick haze engulfed the city. Authorities have attributed the deterioration of air quality to localised factors such construction activities and vehicular pollution as well as regional factors such as pollution by stubble burning from neighbouring states.
