    Over 7,700 Apply For Yeida's Scheme Offering Plots Near Jewar Airport

    The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has received massive response on its 2018 residential plot scheme that was launched on October 12. The Yeida announced it would be selling 1,977 plots in the first phase, measuring between 120 square metre (sqm) to 500 sqm. The last date for applying was November 17. Officials on November 20 said the authority had received 7,736 applications for plots. Lying within five and seven-kilometre periphery of the proposed airport site, the plots on sale are spread across sectors 18, 19, 20, 22A, 22C and 22D.

    How Much Property Can A Muslim Bequeath In His Will?

    The laws on Muslim Wills are not the same as those made under the Indian Succession Act, 1925. Muslim Will are governed by the rules laid by the the Koran. As a general rule in the Muslim law in India (Shariat), any person, who is a major (above 15 years) and is of sound mind, can make a Will but can't dispose of more than one-third of his property without the consent of his heirs. This includes the assets left after payment of funeral expenses and debts.

    SDMC Proposes Hike In Property Tax

    For the Budget 2019-20, the SDMC has proposed to levy property tax on residential properties based on various category of colonies. The proposed rates for residential properties falling under categories A and B is 14 per cent, instead of 12 per cent. For categories C, D and E, the corporation has proposed property tax 12 per cent, instead of 11 per cent. For the F, G and H categories the property tax would be levied at eight per cent, instead of seven per cent.

    Chandigarh Civic Body To Launch Action Against Encroachment

    After the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) said encroachments from the government land be removed as early as possible, the municipal corporation is set to launch action against illegal constructions in Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. For a planned intervention, the civic body is planning to visit each household to survey the situation and file a report on the action taken, as mandated by the HC. The first report in the matter is expected to be presented by December 20.

    Delhi Metro's Blue Line Extension To Noida Sec 62 To Open In January

    Soon, people working in Noida Sector 62 won’t have to rely on auto-rickshaws and hired cabs for commuting as the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line extension from Noida City Centre to Noida Sector 62 and Electronic City will get operational by January next year. At present, only Delhi Transport Corporation-run buses and private autos are available for public transit in the area. The same is true of several areas of Ghaziabad that lie close to Sector 62.
