      Home Sales Seen Rising 25% In 2018: PropTiger

      Home sales are estimated to have increased 25 per cent during 2018 over the previous year, data available with PropTiger.com show. This rise in home sales numbers might mark the start of a new era in India’s real estate after key reforms, including the real estate law and the goods and services tax, were introduced to clean-up the sector beginning 2016. Cautious developers, however, showed restraint in coming up with new projects ─ only 1.9 lakh new units were launched in 2018. Consequently, new launches during the year are estimated to decline by 22 per cent.

      Karnataka Plans Up To 25% Hike In Property Guidance Value

      Rates of property in key cities of the state will go up between 5 and 25 per cent as the Karnataka government plans to implement a hike in property guidance value this month. Among the cities where the guidance value would see the steepest hike are the state capital Bengaluru, Mangalore and Mysore. Rates were last hiked two years back in 2016. Through the hike that might come into effect in January next year, the state government aims to earn an additional Rs 1,000 crore as revenue.

      Delhi Metro's Blue Line Extension To Noida Sec 62 To Open Soon

      Soon, people working in Noida Sector 62 won’t have to rely on auto-rickshaws and hired cabs for commuting as the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line extension from Noida City Centre to Noida Sector 62 and Electronic City will get operational by January next year. At present, only Delhi Transport Corporation-run buses and private autos are available for public transit in the area. The same is true of several areas of Ghaziabad that lie close to Sector 62.

      BBMP Plans To Hike Property Tax By 25-30%

      With an aim to raise funds for civic infrastructure projects, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) plans to raise property tax by 25-30 per cent on residential as well as non-residential complexes. The hike is expected to bring in additional Rs 500 crore for the authority. The proposal will be tabled in front of the standing committee for approval, and will be moved to the Karnataka government for final implementation from April next year.

      Road Bypassing Kherki Daula Toll Plaza In Gurgaon Becomes Operational

      The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran on January 9 opened a five-kilometre road that would end the trouble of the residents living in new Gurgaon sectors. This four-lane road connecting the Southern Peripheral Expressway with the National Highway-48 will now allow commuters to reach Manesar and Sectors 81 to 95 without having to pay a toll.
