About Rohtak is a city and administrative headquarters of the Rohtak district in the state of Haryana. Situated at distances of 70 kilometres and 250 kilometres from New Delhi and the state capital Chandigarh respectively, this city forms a part of National Capital Region. City Infrastructure Rohtak offers smooth connectivity to seven cities by National Highways NH 10, NH 71, and NH 71A, as well as State Highways SH 16 and SH 18. Natioanl Highway 10 from Delhi to Rohtak is being upgraded to six lanes with 30 kilometre Rohtak City Bypass. National Highway 10 from Rohtak to Hissar and many cities of Punjab undergoing widening to a four-lane highway. Rohtak City provides rail connections to Delhi, Panipat, Rewari, Bhiwani, and Jind. Rohtak Junction Railway Station is served by 3 Shatabdi Express services, and AjmerChandigarh Garib Rath Express. In 2013, a new railway line from Rohtak to Rewari via Jhajjar became operational. The nearest airport in Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi; however, the Haryana Government has shown interest in setting up a Greenfield Cargos Airport at Meham, and this project has also received approval from the AAI.
