Rohtak is a city and administrative headquarters of the
Rohtak district in the state of Haryana. Situated at distances of 70 kilometres and 250 kilometres from New
Delhi and the state capital
Chandigarh respectively, this city forms a part of National Capital Region.
City Infrastructure
Rohtak offers smooth connectivity to seven cities by National Highways
NH 10, NH 71, and NH 71A, as well as State Highways SH 16 and SH 18. Natioanl Highway 10 from
Delhi to
Rohtak is being upgraded to six lanes with 30 kilometre
Rohtak City Bypass. National Highway 10 from
Rohtak to
Hissar and many cities of Punjab undergoing widening to a four-lane highway.
Rohtak City provides rail connections to
Delhi,
Panipat,
Rewari, Bhiwani, and Jind.
Rohtak Junction Railway Station is served by 3 Shatabdi Express services, and
Ajmer Chandigarh Garib Rath Express. In 2013, a new railway line from
Rohtak to
Rewari via
Jhajjar became operational. The nearest airport in Indira Gandhi International Airport at
Delhi; however, the Haryana Government has shown interest in setting up a Greenfield Cargos Airport at Meham, and this project has also received approval from the AAI.

Property in the city is available as plots, houses, and apartments. One can find good projects in
DLF Colony, Azad Nagar, and Ram Nagar. The outskirts of the city hosts integrated townships such as Omaxe City, Parsvanath City, SRS City, and Sun City. Sector 3, Jagdish Colony, and Gohana Road also has properties to choose from.
Lifestyle
The prime places of interest in and around the city include Tilyar Lake,
Rohtak Zoo, and Gurudwara Manji Sahib Lakhan Majra. The Tilyar Lake is spread over an area of 132 acres, and is one of the greenest stretches in the adjoining area, thus attracting a large flurry of tourists. Asias largest cloth market in terms of size, Shori Market, is in
Rohtak. The city also prides itself for being one of the biggest educational hubs of the country, with 16 national government institutes.
Rohtak Loksabha Constituency is the only Indian constituency to have AIIMS, IIM, and IIT. Other prestigious institutions include Maharishi Dayanand University State Institute of Film and Television, Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), etc. The PGIMS and Civil Hospital are operated by the State Government, when it comes to healthcare. There are also a host of privately operated medical centres. The Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex, and Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium are the main sports-related infrastructure in the city.
