      5,151 Projects Proposed Under Smart Cities Mission: Govt

      A total of 5,151 projects have been suggested by cities in their Smart City Proposals, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri told the Rajya Sabha on January 3. In a written reply, the minister told the Upper House that all the cities had incorporated special purpose vehicles and constituted city-level advisory while 97 of them had procured project management consultants.

      Govt Approves 53 L Homes Under PMAY-U; MIG Homes Are Now Bigger

      As of July 25, the total number of affordable homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has touched 53.74 lakh homes. The latest addition was about 2.67 lakh homes across 10 Indian states. In the latest round of meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee of the PMAY chaired by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary, Durga Shanker Mishra, Madhya Pradesh was sanctioned 59,421 homes, highest in this round.

      UP Builds Highest Number Of Units For Rural Poor Under PMAY

      While states are running way behind schedule as they chase the government’s dram of providing housing to all by 2022, Uttar Pradesh is seen making progress in its villages. India’s most populous state has topped the list in providing homes to its rural poor. The state has fixed a target of building over 10.10 lakh homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Grameen (PMAY-G). The state has already built over 7.73 lakh, the highest in the country.
