    In a move to curb illegal construction, the Uttar Pradesh government on October 16 passed an order asking all development bodies in the state to map all constructions within a month falling under their purview. The state government has set May 2017, the time when the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act of 2016 came into effect in UP, as the base year for procuring maps.

    The Ministry of Urban Development has released smart city rankings which places Nagpur on top, followed by Vadodara and Ahmedabad. These rankings were based on various parameters, including expenditure, project implementation and performance of civic bodies in the past four years. Out of 99 smart cities, 12 were not evaluated since the third list was released very recently.

    UP Budget 2018-19: A Big Push For Liveability, Infrastructure
