"Pimpri-Chinchwad is a Municipal Corporation Which comes under the Pune Metropolitan Region, towards the north-west of the city. It is regarded as one of the biggest industrial hubs in Asia which houses industrial units of companies like Bharat Electronics Limited, Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors. The area is an agglomeration of sub-localities like Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Hinjewadi, Akurdi, Rawat, Bhosari, Punawale and Sangav.

Connectivity
Pimpri-Chinchwad enjoys a good connectivity with the Pune City via the old Mumbai-Pune Highway. The highway is stretched up to four lanes that have made the journey to Pune easier and reduced the travel time to 30 minutes. While the closest airport from here is the Lohegaon Airport, the government is also planning to set up a new airport near Chakan to make travelling from the Pimpri-Chinchwad area easier.
The Pune-Lonawala sub-urban train also passes through the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. Major railway stations here are Pimpri, Chinchwad and Akurdi.
