    Maharashtra Top Waste Generating State In India

    Maharashtra has emerged as the top municipal waste-generating state in the country in 2018, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Based on the data unveiled by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, of the 5.29 crore metric tonne (MT) waste generated across India in 2018, Maharashtra generated 82.38 lakh MT, while Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu generated 61.3 lakh MT and 56 lakh MT, respectively.
