53 Gurgaon Villages Set To Become Urban AreasThe Department of Town and Country Planning is planning to declare 53 villages in Gurgaon as urban areas. With that, Section 7A of the Urban Areas Act, 1975, would apply on development of these 53 villages. When that happens, a seller will have to seek a no-objection certificate from the department to sell his land. The registration department would seek this document at the time of the registration of the property.
All You Need To Know About Mumbai Coastal RoadThe first phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project, a proposed 34-kilometre freeway running along the western coastline, is expected to begin by October 2018. The freeway will link Princess Street Flyover near Marine Lines to the south-end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) under Phase-I and upto Kandivali under Phase-II. The project will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore and will decongest the Western Express Highway and boost real estate developments across the western Mumbai.

Shillong Bags Smart City Tag, Number Reaches 100The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has selected Shillong as the 100th city to receive funding under the Centre's flagship Smart Cities Mission after evaluation of the proposal submitted by it. Earlier, nine names were added in the smart cities list in January. These cities were Biharsharif (Bihar), Diu (Daman & Diu), Erode (Tamil Nadu), Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Kavaratti (Lakshwadeep) and Bareilly, Moradabad & Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh). The list now has a total 99 cities to be developed as smart ones.
Haryana Approves Rs 600-Cr Budget For Phase-II Of AMThe Haryana government has approved a budget of Rs 600 crore for enhancing the civic facilities under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Around nine projects in seven towns have been selected for the second phase of the scheme. The scheme was launched in 2015 for improving basic urban infrastructure to households entailing water supply, sewerage networks, storm water drains, urban transport, and open and green spaces, across 500 Indian cities.
