Builders, 2019 Is The Time To Walk The Talk

If India’s real estate developers expect their condition to improve in the New Year by regaining the lost confidence of homebuyers, they will have to show greater seriousness in delivering what they promised. And, more importantly, they will have to be acutely watchful of their words lest they succumb to making claims that they would not be able to deliver. If they are working hard now to complete their ongoing projects, watchful builders are also exercising caution in launching new housing projects. That could be instrumental for them in walking the talk.

Yeida Scheme 2009: Authority To Start Handing Over 11,000 Plots In March

While it has already handed over a total of 4,317 plots till October last year out of 14,453 plots that were offered under the scheme, it now plans to deliver the remaining residential plots in two tranches. The Yeida will give possession letters to 5,500 allottees of such plots by March 31, and another 4,500 possession letters will be given by June 30. The authority will waive all default interest and penalty over payments because of the possession delay – all plots were to be handed over by 2014.

Home Sales Seen Rising 25% In 2018: PropTiger

Home sales are estimated to have increased 25 per cent during 2018 over the previous year, data available with PropTiger.com show. This rise in home sales numbers might mark the start of a new era in India’s real estate after key reforms, including the real estate law and the goods and services tax, were introduced to clean-up the sector beginning 2016. Cautious developers, however, showed restraint in coming up with new projects ─ only 1.9 lakh new units were launched in 2018. Consequently, new launches during the year are estimated to decline by 22 per cent.

Centre Okays Land Allotment; Chandigarh Employees’ Housing Scheme May Take Off Soon

Over a decade after the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) launched the self-financing housing scheme for the employees of the Union Territory government, the Central government has now approved a proposal to allot 61.5 acre of land for the project. The CHB Self-Financing Housing Scheme 2008 was launched in February that year for which nearly 7,000 people applied. However, the scheme could not really take off owing to land-acquisition issues, with the Centre expressing its inability to provide land for the project.
