    • Builders Can’t Hide Behind Excuses For Project Delay

      Giving its verdict in a case where a developer failed to deliver homes within a specified limit, the apex consumer panel has said that builders cannot escape compensating buyers by citing delays in getting approvals from authorities and hurdles in land acquisition as the reasons. The National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission also said that homebuyers were not responsible for cost and time overruns in a housing project in a manner and should not be made to suffer owing to that.

    • 8 Noida Builders Promise To Deliver 7,800 Units In O

      Cracking the whip on developers who have failed to deliver projects, the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) on December 13 directed eight builders in the region to either complete 13 of their ongoing projects in a year or face legal action. The developers have reportedly assured the authority that they would deliver as many as 7,800 units across these 13 projects by the end of 2019 after a review meeting of their projects with UPRERA official.

    • 18 Ghaziabad Builders To Undergo Forensic Audit Over

      After making a list of builders who have yet to deliver housing projects in the city, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is set to launch action against wilful defaulters. Books of as many as 18 real estate developers in Ghaziabad will be audited by the authority to find out if funds collected from homebuyers were diverted for other purposes, resulting in a prolonged delay in project completion. Earlier, the authority made a list of 115 developers, who have ongoing projects in the city, putting them in three different categories, A, B and C, depending on the work progress.
