    Maharashtra Aims To Bring SRA, Mhada Under RERA’s Ambit

    In a bid to keep a check on delays and ensure timely delivery of projects across the state, the Maharashtra government has written to the Centre to amend the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. The state wants the Centre to bring the Slum Rehabilitation Authority and the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority under the Act that protects both buyers’ and developers’ interest. According to the state’s housing minister, this move would help make these authorities more accountable towards their beneficiaries.

    MahaRERA Imposes Rs 50-L Penalty On Unregistered Project In Goregaon West

    The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has been taking strict action against unregistered projects across the state. However, for the first time, the authority has slapped the highest-ever penalty on an unregistered project – Rs 50 lakh. The developer had not received an Occupancy Certificate (OC) for Wing A and B before May 1, 2017, violating Section 3 of the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. So far, the authority has levied penalty ranging between Rs 50,000 and Rs 10 lakh.

    CIDCO To Construct 90,000 Affordable Homes In Maharashtra

    To provide affordable housing options to economically weaker section and low-income group categories, the CIDCO will now construct over 90,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Of the 90,000 homes, 53,000 will be constructed for the EWS category while 37,000 will be built for the LIG category. These apartments will be constructed across some of the emerging real estate markets in Maharashtra.
