Malad West is one of the suburbs in the north of Mumbai. It lies in close proximity to upscale localities such as Kandivali and Goregaon. A part of the Mumbai North Lok Sabha Constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha segments (Borivali, Magathane, Dahisar, Kandivali East, and Charkop in the Mumbai Suburban District), Malad is often promoted as Mumbais fastest growing suburb.
Until the mid-20th century, Malad was a sparsely populated suburb cut across by creeks and mangroves, but is now an attractive residential destination for middle-class pursuing white-collar jobs and belonging to different communities. The main localities in this area include Chincholi Village, Orlem, Evershine Nagar, and Jankalyan Nagar. The Bandra-Kurla Complex is 24.4 kilometres, which is no more than a 40 minutes drive via the Western Express Highway.

Connectivity

Malad enjoys appreciable connectivity to the other parts of the city mainly through Swami Vivekananda Road, Link Road, and NH 8. Marve Road is also a key route which starts from Swami Vivekananda Road, intersects with Link Road, and ends at Madh Island Lands. One can also hire ferry service from Malad to Versova, Manori, and Gorai. Both the eastern and western zones of Malad have their own bus depots. The railway station is located on the Western Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway Network. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is a 32-minute drive from Malad West via the Western Express Highway.
