Mumbai Monorail Phase-II May Be Operational SoonAfter missing many deadlines, Phase-II of the Mumbai Monorail will be operational soon. The route, which was slated to get operational in December 2017, got delayed due to shortcomings found in the safety parameters. While Phase-I operations are still suspended after the fire broke in two coaches of the Monorail rake in November last, the state government has shelved all Monorail projects that were proposed in the metropolitan region (MMR) due to financial reasons.
Mumbai Metro Line-IV To Get Operational By 2021The Mumbai Metro Line-IV has been planned as a fully elevated corridor with 32 stations from Wadala near south Mumbai and Kasarvadavli near Thane West via Ghatkopar and Mulund. There are plans to extend the line by 2.7 kilometres to Gaimukh. The 32.32-kilometre Metro corridor has an estimated cost of Rs 14,549 crore and is expected to be completed by 2021.

Being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 8,416 crore, the corridor spans a total length of 24.9 kilometres with an interchange facility with Line IV from Kapurbawdi junction. An elevated corridor, the project is expected to improve Mumbai-Thane connectivity while increasing employment opportunities and creating growth centres. Some localities which are expected to benefit from the project include Nilje, Bhiwandi and Kalyan. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
Mumbai Metro Ridership Hits 400-Million MarkThe Mumbai Metro has crossed 400-million ridership at a 12-km route between Versova- Andheri- Ghatkopar in a period of four years. According to the data available with Mumbai Metro One, the network operates with around 378-382 trips on weekdays, with a punctuality performance of 99.9 per cent along what is the world's densest corridor. These decks would have ticket-booking offices, foot-over-bridges and skywalks, leading to the platforms. At present, only the Andheri and the Goregaon stations have elevated decks.
