The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is in the process of selecting contractors and general consultant for the project after the project was approved in October 2017. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.

      The Supreme Court on December 10 sought the responses of five states that have been brought to court for diluting the norms prescribed under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013. A plea was earlier filed in the SC, challenging the validity of the "contradictory amendments" made by Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand in the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act. By making these amendments in the Central Act, the states have exempted projects such as industrial corridors, expressways and highways from seeking consent of the people involved, claims the plea.

      The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has been taking strict action against unregistered projects across the state. However, for the first time, the authority has slapped the highest-ever penalty on an unregistered project – Rs 50 lakh. The developer had not received an Occupancy Certificate (OC) for Wing A and B before May 1, 2017, violating Section 3 of the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. So far, the authority has levied penalty ranging between Rs 50,000 and Rs 10 lakh.
