    • Delhi Govt Plans To Extend Barapullah Elevated Corri

      The Delhi government is planning to extend the Barapullah Elevated Corridor from INA to Dhaula Kuan in Phase-IV of its construction. The planned signal-free stretch once completed will cut travel time between east Delhi and the Indira Gandhi International Airport by nearly 40 minutes. To start work on this project, the Delhi government has asked for the submission of a feasibility report for the extension of Phase-IV. According to the Public Works Department (PWD) officials, this phase will be linked to Phase-II near Thyagraj Stadium.

      The Raja Tula Ram Flyover was proposed as a two-carriageway stretch but got converted into a single-lane flyover in 2009 due to objections raised by the residents calling it a constant source of ‘noise pollution’. While the single-carriageway flyover created further traffic bottlenecks, a parallel road was finally proposed in November 2014 which has already missed five deadlines.

    • Navi Mumbai Coastal Road To Be Ready By 2021

      Maharashtra’s City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) recently approved the second coastal road in Navi Mumbai. The route connecting Kharghar with Belapur will provide easy access to the proposed international airport in the city. The project, which would cost the development authority over Rs 270 crore, is expected to be open for public use by 2021. It was last year that the CIDCO had floated tenders for building the first coastal road between the proposed airport and the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link.

    • Cabinet Approves 3 Corridors Under Delhi Metro Phase

      The Union Cabinet on March 7 approved Phase-IV of the Delhi Metro, paving the way for the construction of three new corridors, including the Mukundpur-Maujpur corridor, the RK Ashram-Janakpuri West corridor and the Aero City-Tughlakabad corridor. The combined length of these corridors will be 61.679 kilometre, spanning 46 Metro stations, 17 underground and 29 elevated. To be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 25,000 crore, the three corridors take the Metro deeper into the national capital, improving connectivity while at the same time reducing traffic congestion.
