What Is Fugitive Offenders Ordinance?In March this year, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved a proposal brought forth by the Ministry of Finance to introduce the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018. With President Ram Nath Kovind giving his assent to promulgation of the ordinance, authorities now have the power to attach and confiscate the proceeds of crime and properties of economic offenders fleeing the country.

Gurgaon Circle Rates Hiked By 15%In a move that is likely to help authorities meet the twin objectives of generating more revenues and equalising the differences in rates in various sectors, the Gurgaon district administration has hiked circle rates by up to 20 per cent, for the second time in two months. The revised circle rates come into effect from April 9. It was on February 12 when circles rates were revised in Gurgaon after a gap of four years.
