With a view to ensure greater compliance of rules, the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) has made it mandatory for housing projects to have a RERA registration number before they are issued a completion certificate. In an order issued last month, interim TNRERA Chairman S Krishnan, who is also the state housing and development secretary, has directed the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority to make RERA registration numbers a prerequisite for issuing completion certificates.

No Completion Certificate To Housing Projects in Che
Ahead Of IPO Launch, Lodha Puts London Property On SIndia’s richest real estate group Lodha Developers may sell its residential projects in London to a foreign real estate fund, say media reports. The Mumbai-based company plans to sell Lincoln Square on Carey Street and 1 Grosvenor Square in Mayfair to cut debt, estimated to be around three times the company's net worth. The sale is expected to fetch approximately Rs 4,200 crore to the company.
Indians Invested Rs 16,800 Cr In Dubai Realty Till SAccording to a report published by the Department of Real Estate Studies & Research, Dubai Land Department (DLD), with an investment of over Rs 16,800 crore, Indians have emerged as the largest foreign investors in the city’s real estate sector in the first nine months of 2018. The prime factors attracting Indian buyers to the Dubai real estate sector include active promotion by Dubai-based developers, technological access for buyers through online portals, ease of property registration, assured capital gains, high rental yields, tax-free returns and affordability.
NBCC, Kotak Among 4 Shortlisted To Buy Insolvency-HiGovernment-owned NBCC along with Kotak Investment, Singapore-based Cube Highways and Suraksha Group have been shortlisted to acquire debt-laden Jaypee Infratech. Currently, insolvency proceedings against the company are underway in the National Company Law Tribunal. Last year, when Lakshadweep Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Sudhir Valia-led Suraksha Asset Reconstruction Company and Mumbai-based Dosti Realty, won the bid to buy the company for Rs 7,350 crore, Jaypee declined the offer on the grounds of undervaluation.
18 Ghaziabad Builders To Undergo Forensic Audit OverAfter making a list of builders who have yet to deliver housing projects in the city, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is set to launch action against wilful defaulters. Books of as many as 18 real estate developers in Ghaziabad will be audited by the authority to find out if funds collected from homebuyers were diverted for other purposes, resulting in a prolonged delay in project completion. Earlier, the authority made a list of 115 developers, who have ongoing projects in the city, putting them in three different categories, A, B and C, depending on the work progress.
