    Developers, Buyers In Bengaluru Worried Over New NGT Norms

    On December 6, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had issued orders to ban construction activities up to 75 metres from the boundary of stormwater drains (SWDs), also referred to as rajakaluves. Aimed at preserving the Bellandur and Agara lakes that have become highly polluted, the decision by NGT implies serious trouble for those structures that have been built, following the old buffer zone rules. As per earlier NGT regulations, a buffer area of 50 metres for primary stormwater drains, 35 metres for secondary ones and buffer area of 25 metres for tertiary drains has been allowed. Karanataka government will file an appeal, seeking review of the recent ruling.

    31 Realty Projects Lose Licences In Haryana Over Violations; Builders May Be Targeted Next

    Haryana’s Department of Town and Country Planning has cancelled licences of over 31 ongoing projects, both commercial and residential. According to the DTCP, it is yet to recover dues worth over Rs 200 crore as external development charges from these projects. Of the defaulting projects, 14 are in Gurgaon, five in Sonipat, three in Faridabad and three in Palwal. Meanwhile, the DTCP has also formed a three-member committee that will look into applications received under the Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana.

    Haryana Amends New Licensing Policy To Give Additional FSI To Realtors

    In a move that would help Millennium City Gurgaon accommodate more people in its fold, the city’s Department of Town & Country Planning has decided to allow additional floor area ratio to real estate developers by making an amendment in its Integrated Licensing Policy, 2016. This is the third time the Haryana government has decided to amend the policy which was launched in 2016 with a view to make the most of high-potential urban areas in the state.

    PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone For Mumbai Metro's Line 5

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 18 will inaugurate the Metro Line-5 of the Mumbai Metro network that will connect Kapurbawdi in Thane West to Kalyan via Bhiwandi. The PM, along with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, will also lay the foundation stone for the Metro Line-9 (Dahisar- Mira Bhayander). The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is in the process of selecting contractors and general consultant for the project after the project was approved in October 2017. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
