New Town, already part of the Centre's Smart Cities Mission, will be developed in to a green city with the help of experts from South Korea. This came after The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation or HIDCO inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea's Handong Global University. Under the MoU, the two will have knowledge-based exchange of ideas while the Korean delegation would provide technological assistance to HIDCO. This assistance would help develop similar green cities across the state.
Moreover, to keep the Smart City flag flying high, New Town will also have a mobile application. This soon-to-be-launched app will help residents and tourists with the information about the city including places to visit, maps, services available, bus schedules, digital library and events, among others. This app will also be developed under the guidance of HIDCO.
