City Beat: Maharashtra Extends Lease Renewal Date To Nov 1 [Video]
If you are a leasehold plot owner and have not applied for your renewal, you can now do it by November 1, as the state government has extended the prior deadline of October 2. According to the government, there are 1,300 leasehold properties in the Island City, of which the lease of 691 plots has expired. On the other hand, of the 375 leasehold plots in suburbs, the lease of 150 has expired. In fact, there are properties leases of which expired nearly 50 years ago, while some properties have been sold without any information to the authority.
In a move to give a boost to the smart cities mission, the Maharashtra government has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea Land & Housing Corporation (KLHC) of the Republic of Korea. Under the MoU, the two together would build a strategic partnership for smart cities, roads and bridges, across the state along with exchanging knowledge and expertise.
Meanwhile, a city known for its skyscrapers and ever growing real estate, Mumbai has topped the list of the cities in India with highest number of green buildings. According to the statistics released by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), there are 753 green buildings in the city that host advanced power and water conservation methods, besides better sewage and garbage management systems. The city is way ahead of Delhi and Pune which stand second and third in the list, respectively.
Now for some commercial news. In what is being touted as the largest office space deal in India, Brookefield Asset Management has inked an agreement to acquire Hiranandani Group's offices and retail space in Powai suburb for around Rs 6,700 crore. The group has sold their entire portfolio spread over an area of 4.5 million sq ft. This portfolio was constructed over a decade ago and is leased by some global corporates including Tata Consultancy Services, Nomura Group and Deloitte Consulting India.
