The Haryana Urban Development Authority has announced that it will develop 15 new sectors across the state. By selling the land in these sectors, the development authorities is expecting to earn as much as Rs 3,000 crore. Similar to civic and development authorities across the country, Huda, too, is facing a money crunch and is pinning its hope on fresh earnings to tide over the financial crisis. According to officials, Huda can earn over Rs 100 crore just by selling forms for the draw of lots for plot allotment. It is to be noted that one form will cost an applicant Rs 1,000.

Cities where the new sectors will be developed, include Bahadurgarh, Bhiwani, Dalvali, Gohana, Hathin, Hisar, Pihowa, Kurukshetra, Mahendragarh, Pinjor, Rohtak, Sirsa and Yamuna Nagar. While about 6,200 residential plots will be up for sale in the new sectors, there would also be hundreds of plots that will be sold to be used for commercial purposes. It has to be noted that no new sectors are being offered in Haryana's best-seller town Gurgaon. Officials attribute this to the absence of developable land parcels in the city.

Meanwhile, media reported that three road projects that were likely to boost connectivity between Delhi and Gurgaon may not take off for some more time. The reports attribute this to land acquisition hurdles and environment approval delays. These three projects include the Dwarka Expressway, the road connecting Vasant Kunj to DLF Phase-II and the road connecting MG Road to Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. Planned decades ago, these roads will go a long way in easing traffic congestion in Gurgaon, on completion. It is to be noted that traffic jams are becoming a huge concern for home buyers in Gurgaon and may have a negative impact on the image of the city as a property market.
