The issues become manifold when women are looking for rental accommodations.They have to care for prices, security, location, availability of basic needs, marketplace and transportation. The women who look for rental accommodations belong to all ages, castes and backgrounds. They include single mothers, middle-aged divorcees, young unmarried women and retired females.

Makaan.com asked women in Tier 1 Cities to rate the factors rental price, location and proximity to market/workplace as per their preference while searching for rental accommodation. 40% of the women said that they give the highest preference to proximity to market and workplace so that they do not have to worry about commutation during odd hours and can buy things easily. 35% of women said that for them the highest priority is the price they pay to the landlord and the remaining 25% of women said that for them location is of foremost importance. The key finding of the survey seems to be that all the aspects are of equal significance to women prior to finalizing on a rental property.
