It's that time of the year again when the world celebrates consumer electronics and technology that power our homes and our lives making it much simpler, efficient and safer. Yes, we are talking about CES 2017 or the International Consumer Electronics Show, 2017. The five-day show that concluded on January 8 at Las Vegas, has been witness to some amazing, futuristic and out-of-the-box electronics that will change the way we live completely.
Driven by Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, CES surpassed the technology launched in 2016, with more than 165,000 attendees.
MakaaniQ lists some out-of-the-box consumer electronics that were introduced at CES 2017:
A family robot coming your way
From the house of Chinese search giant Baidu here comes a family robot that could transform the way you live. Designed as a rival to Google Home and Amazon Echo, Ainemo, is a voice controlled robot that lets users use video chat, play music, request on-demand services such as ordering takeout or movie tickets and control home appliances. It operates on Baidu's in-house artificial intelligence (AI) assistant platform DuerOS.
A smart toothbrush
Oral-B, a world renowned brand in dental care, has taken a revolutionary step to launch a smart toothbrush at CES this year. The toothbrush operates using your phone's Bluetooth and an app. Oral-B Genius 8000 using your phone's front-facing camera can analyse the pattern of your teeth and ensures that you are reaching to every corner of your mouth.
Sleep like a baby
Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed is all you need for a good night's sleep. This is a mattress that will know your body temperature, your sleeping pattern and position. With this information it will transform itself for you to ensure a good sleep. So, do you snore? This mattress will feel it and slightly raise your head to lower the sound.
All in one kitchen buddy
How about having a product that could provide you with the power and service of 12 appliances? Well, it's a reality now. Thermomix from Vorwerk is a 12-in-one smart kitchen appliance. So, this appliance could help you grind, mix, blend, weigh, steam, stir, whip, emulsify, heat, cook, chop and knead. It comes with a colour touchscreen display and control dial for easy operation.
Your water meter
An interesting product that is serious about the environment and smart too. Smart and Blue's Hydrao are smart showerheads that are illuminated by different lights. The lights change colour based on how long you have been showering or using water. So, it keeps you aware about your water consumption and creates an ambience where you would not want the light to change from green to purple and to an alarming red.
We have all witnessed mood lights which can change based on your mood. But this new product that was introduced at CES 2017, Luke Roberts Smart Light, is in a different league altogether. This light changes the colours of your walls. A regular hanging pendant light sends colourful illumination to the ceiling and further to the walls. It can be operated using a dedicated app.
A grocery list out of the garbage bin
Thinking how? This newly introduced gadget called GeniCan is the answer. Install it near your garbage bin, scan the code of the product that just got finished and you are about to throw the empty box. The gadget itself will add that product to your grocery list. So here is a product that keeps you away from the cumbersome task of making a grocery shopping list.
