Chandigarh Housing Board Cuts Prices In Sector 53 Housing Scheme By 10%

After receiving lukewarm responses for its housing scheme, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to cut the cost of 492 flats, on offer in Sector 53. The last date of registration has also been extended from November 30 to December 31, 2019. 

The CHB had launched this housing scheme on October 25, 2019, inviting online applications for allotment of these units. The entire process had to be completed through the official website (www.chbonline.in) of the housing board.

The CHB will construct the flats after assessing the interest from the applicants. The plan is to build 120 units in the LIG category, 100 flats under MIG and 192 flats in the HIG category. Around 80 flats are for economically weaker section applicants. 

Applicants need to deposit Rs 10,000 as  registration fee while EWS applicants have to submit Rs 5,000 only. The fee has to be submitted through online payment gateway. The CHB will construct the self-financing housing scheme comprising 492 flats of different categories in Sector 53, under which an allottee is required to make 100 per cent payment of the chargeable price before possession.

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has been actively working in the city to provide affordable housing to the homeless residing in the union territory.

It constructs and develops houses/flats on the allotted land at reserve prices. The board was formed in 1976 by extending the Haryana Housing Board Act, 1971. The board allots units through housing schemes and applications are invited from the general public. After scrutiny of applications, draws of lots are held for registration of allottees and allocation of floors. The house numbers are allotted through another draw. So far, the CHB has constructed over 44,000 small units, 11,700 flats for medium-income group and 5,933 units for higher-income group.

The CHB is also responsible for building homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Housing For All. Interested applicants can fill this survey form and submit it in the CHB office.

General Self-Financing Housing Scheme

The CHB launched the General Self-Financing Housing Scheme for 200 units of 2BHK flats at Sector 51-A, Chandigarh. While the construction of the project is still underway, the scheme was oversubscribed and does not have any vacant units.

Applicants can also see the list of vacant properties available with the CHB and can apply through specified schemes.

• Rehabilitation of rag pickers in sector-56, Chandigarh
• Rehabilitation of street children at Snehalya Maloya
