UP's Infrastructural Growth On CM Akhilesh Yadav’s Poll Agenda
Elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held next month. Amidst family disputes and differences within the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of the state, has been very clear on one aspect of his agenda for the upcoming polls and that is infrastructural development in UP. Akhilesh is keen to portray himself as a leader of the masses who not only talks of development but also delivers it. This is an image that he is looking to take back to the people of UP as he seeks a second term in the CM’s chair.
Under his leadership, Uttar Pradesh has made strides in the arena of tourism, digitisation as well as rural development. However, it was on the infrastructure front that the state received a lot of attention as well as momentum in the past few years. Some noteworthy developments UP witnessed includes Greater Noida West Metro Link, Lucknow-Agra Expressway and Lucknow-Ghazipur Expressway.
The recent most initiative being the development of three new greenfield expressways spanning more than 1,000 kilometres in the state, which also covers the region of Bundelkhand. The expressways would extend across a dozen districts and the total cost of the project is estimated close to Rs. 60,000 crore.
MakaanIQ brings you the update on these ambitious infrastructure projects:
Highlights of the greenfield expressway projects
One expressway which would be a stretch of 552 kilometres will run across 14 districts of Bundelkhand. The project has a total worth of Rs. 33,120 crore.
Greater Noida-Muzaffarnagar Expressway, another significant project with a budget of Rs. 8,520 crore.
More on the story
All the three projects will be undertaken by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), a body set up by the UP government for overseeing development of expressways in the state. As per sources, these projects have been finalised after a meeting between Chief Minister and the CEO of UPEIDA, Navneet Sehgal.
These proposed projects will be based on the same model as that of Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Lucknow-Ghazipur Expressway, including the funding and land acquisition aspects.
Impact on the state’s infrastructure and real estate
Linking several villages and towns, the successful implementation of these state-of-the-art expressways would undoubtedly give a major boost to the overall connectivity within the state, which has a direct and positive impact on the real estate sector as well.
