Don't Make These 5 Mistakes When Designing A Modular Kitchen
When revamping your home the first thing you plan to do is turn your traditional kitchen into a modular one. However, if you go wrong while planning the revamp, the entire purpose of the exercise may fail.
There are certain mistakes that most households make while constructing a modular kitchen. You should not be one of them.
Don't forget the basics
When designing a kitchen, the basics include the flooring, the wall and the ceiling. So, to begin with, give these three areas a makeover. Flooring should match the kitchen you have planned, so should the walls and the ceiling. Prefer to install wood laminate or marble on the flooring depending on what goes well with the cabinets as well as the countertops.
Focus on the function
We know looks matter a lot kitchen and you want your kitchen to look nothing less than grand by adding many gadgets, fittings and accessories. This may result in crowding. You will also be spending money on many things that lie useless occupying a lot of space. Remember, kitchen's basic purpose is to cook. Hence, it is important that the kitchen is designed uniformly with only things that you need. You could later add appliances or accessories based on your need.
Fit it well
If the cooking island is on your list of things you want to add to your kitchen, make sure it fits well and doesn't eat up too much of space. Installed in the middle of the kitchen, a cooking island can prove to be a hindrance in movement in case it takes up too much of space. Also, design the kitchen based on who will use it the most. For instance, if it is someone who is short in height, try to keep the cabinets as low as possible and keep the countertops a little lower, too. You should also factor in the number of meals that will be cooked in a day in the kitchen while designing it.
Match it well
Decide on a theme before you begin the installation process. You can't have all of the materials in one kitchen. Rather, you will have to pick two such materials that go together in terms of functionality as well as design. Also, choose the material based on your budget. For instance, invest in wood and marble only when you have a higher budget. Low on budget? Prefer investing in Corian material.
Do not clutter
Modular kitchens are all about keeping it minimal and compact. So, design the kitchen in such a way that things remain hidden. Have enough cabinets, use walls to install more shelves if need be. These will help you keep the kitchen organised and everything is as its designated place.
