To Speed Up Construction, BMC Plans To Cut Number Of NOCs Realtors Have To Apply For
In a move that could speed up construction work in India’s financial capital, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to do away with special no-objection certificates real estate developers have to apply for in order to provide certain amenities in their projects.
Under the city's single window clearance system, real estate developers in Mumbai currently get clearance for setting up water & sewage connections and storm water drains while applying online for a building-plan approval. However, they have to seek special NOCs from various departments, including the traffic department, for doing the digging work for laying out the water/sewage pipes and drains.
“We plan to generate the permit along with the NOC given at the beginning of the process, so developers will not have to approach the departments again. While setting up the utility, the developer will already have a permit ready,” BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying. “This will reduce the interaction between officers and developers. Nobody will have to come to the ward office or the departments concerned to process permissions,” Mehta added.
Apart from providing ease of doing business to real estate developers, the move would also ensure timely delivery of housing projects.
