The commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh was adjudged the cleanest city in the country in the Clean Survey 2017. Mayor Malini Laxman Singh Gaud has said that if a person is caught spitting paan or gutkha in public places, they will have to pay a fine of Rs 500. Also, names of such people would be made public through newspapers and announced on radio so they felt embarrassed for their act and did not repeat it, she said.
