GDA Plans To Take Control Of 77 Villages Around Expressways
A total of 77 villages along the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) will soon be administered by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). The move is expected to speed up the work on the two key projects.
The GDA will be presenting a proposal, during its board meeting, which will be later sent for the final approval to the Uttar Pradesh government.
About 31 of these 77 villages are located in the Baghpat district whereas the remaining fall in the Loni and Modinagar areas of the national capital region. These villages are situated within 500 metre off of the two expressways.
Opening doors to urbanisation
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is responsible for developing the two prestigious infrastructure links. While the EPE is slated for an April-end launch, the UP Gate-Dasna phase of DME is also likely to be inaugurated soon. The 270-km EPE, which bypasses Delhi, is believed to become a growth corridor for the realty markets of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Greater Noida, Baghpat and Sonipat. If the GDA’s proposal is approved, these 77 settlements will also witness enhanced economic activities and overall growth.
