East of Delhi is known for the notorious traffic jams caused due to narrow roads and high population. However, to decongest some of the key areas lying between Dilshad Garden and Anand Vihar, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved the construction of a six-lane flyover between Apsara Border and Ghazipur intersection.

This will be a signal-free corridor that would help commuters travelling between Dilshad Garden and Anand Vihar to avoid traffic intersections.

To be constructed by Delhi’s Public Works Department, the two-kilometre flyover will have entry and exit ramps to connect the corridor near Shresthra and Ramprastha intersections. Once constructed it would make Road No 56 starting at Shreshtha Vihar and ending at Vivek Vihar near GT Road, signal-free. The proposed road is also expected to ease local traffic in Vivek Vihar, Sunder Nagar, Ramprastha Colony, Anand Vihar and other nearby residential colonies.

At present, the route remains congested due to heavy traffic on the road coming from the nearby residential colonies and Sahibabad Industrial Area. The flyover will decongest Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg.
