After two long years, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has come up with a new housing scheme. According to media reports, as many as 500 homes in different categories will be up for sale under the new scheme. These apartments in Chandigarh will be sold in Sector 53.
Of the 500 apartments that will be up for sale, 120 units will be 1BHK units, 100 will be 2BHK and 200 will be 2BHK units. The remaining 80 units will be constructed for the economically weaker section. These apartments will come up on an 8.98-acre land at a cost of Rs 200 crore.
Although the prices of these apartments have not been officially announced, it is expected that a 3BHK unit will be priced around Rs 85 lakh, 2BHK around Rs 68 lakh and 1BHK at around Rs 30 lakh.
The applications for the scheme are expected to be invited starting from November 15. The housing board has already received all the required approvals for the construction of these apartments from the Plan Committee of the Administration. These apartments are expected to be built using modern technology and will also be equipped with facilities, including lifts, solar energy for power generation and CCTV cameras for safety and security of the residents.
The last housing scheme that was launched by CHB was in April 2016. Under that scheme, the housing board had put 200 2BHK apartments for sale in Sector 51. The scheme, according to the CHB website, was oversubscribed, and the tenders for construction were awarded in December 2017. The apartments under this scheme are under construction at present.
