Anand Vihar Integrated Transport Hub To Be A Reality Soon
Delhi's Anand Vihar will be converted into an integrated transport hub where people plying from different areas of the neighbouring state via bus terminus and railway station will be able to enjoy the swift Metro route on Pink and Blue Line. The existing foot overbridge is being extended between Anand Vihar ISBT (Inter State Bus Terminus) and the Metro station concourse for easy connectivity. Also, the exit gates of the metro station will be connected with the Anand Vihar Railway Station.
The Anand Vihar Metro Station will also act as an interchange for people coming from farther areas of east Delhi such as Shiv Vihar, Loni and going towards Noida and Connaught Place or Dwarka. While a small section of the Pink Line at Trilokpuri is still missing, once completed, the line will connect South Delhi markets as well as the airport, easing the commute for local traders from nearby cities.
The upcoming Anand Vihar station will have three entry/exit points, two towards the ISBT and one towards the railway station. The new station will become the primary entry/exit point and the current main entrance will be closed.
In order to avoid the mess at the entry and exit points, wide drop-off points will be created for cars, autorickshaws and e-rickshaws next to the new station on the ISBT side. This will also cut down the existing traffic in the area which is primarily due to long waiting queues towards the station or the bus terminal.
The cleanest railway station
For the second year, the Anand Vihar Railway Station has been ranked as the fifth cleanest station by the latest Swachh Railway report. The station is the highest ranked among all railway stations in the capital. The network of subways and foot overbridge at the station reduce congestion on the platforms. The newly built station has 11 ticket counters to tackle expected rush of passengers.
