Real estate might be going through a rough phase, but there is no stopping the lovers of luxury. RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka’s recent house purchase is a living proof of that.
In what is being touted as one of the biggest apartment deals in the country, the RPG Group chairman bought a five-bedroom luxury sea-facing duplex house in Mumbai’s Malabar Hill for Rs 45.2 crore from Citibank India.
The property, say media reports, was sold through an auction conducted by the bank recently and was registered last week.
This is the third unit the Goenka family has bought in the iconic IL Palazzo. Built in 1972, the building on the Little Gibbs Road occupies the highest point in south Mumbai, surrounded by sea on three sides.
“Each flat is functionally designed by the builder keeping in mind the free flow of air and with aesthetic eye, tasteful decoration done by each individual flat owner who happen to be the cream of the society,” reads the officials site of the tower.
Located at the 18th and 19th floors, the duplex apartment Goenka has bought has a carpet area of 3,500 square foot. Coming complementary are two car parking slots for the owner with the property.
Billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala also owns a house in this building. Late actor Vinod Khanna, too, lived here. Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla also used to be an occupant here.
