Home Sutra: Decoding The Connect Between Sunlight, Vastu & House Design [Video]
Sun has been the source of energy for our complete solar system and vital to the sustenance of life on earth. In the ancient science of architecture Vastu, too, the Sun is considered as an important element for the construction of the house. It depicts the fire element in Vastu and hence, has its own importance as fire is known to represent enthusiasm, passion and spirited vigour. It is also regarded as the force within us that drives us towards our goals.
While designing a house, it is important to ensure that it receives ample sunlight. Vastu suggests that a house should not have a shared or common wall with another house as they tend to create mixed energies. Thus, more open spaces, balconies and terraces are desirable in east and north sides to allow constant sunlight into the house. According to our Vastu expert Acharya P Khurrana, in case there is no provision for the same and the house is devoid of the fire element, it is best to light a lamp in the south direction of the house.
