It is an upmarket residential suburb in the city of Secunderabad
. It is divided into east Marredpally
and West Marredpally
. East Mareedpally area was largely an open area with a few houses. Like many parts of the twin cities, they also had small hillocks, strewn with big boulders with hills. In 1965, the first major development that spurred further development was the opening of the Shenoy Nursing Home which continues to this day. For next 25 years, there was no health-related industry nearby.
