    In a move that would accelerate the business in the GIFT City, Alternative Investment Funds could now invest in the IFSC through the Foreign Portfolio Investment, the Foreign Venture Capital Investor and the Foreign Direct Investment route. The Securities and Exchange Board of India on November 27 released the guidelines for AIFs, making the GIFT City a potential destination of investment to launch offshore funds for investment in India.

    New Development Plan: Taller Mumbai Will Have 10 L Affordable Homes By 2034

    The Maharashtra government has sanctioned the Mumbai Development Control and Promotion Regulations 2034. The new plan is expected to open up over 3,700 hectares of land in the city’s no-development zone and salt-pan land. This large tract of land is likely to be used for developing residential real estate in the affordable category. According to the plan, nearly 10 lakh affordable houses will be constructed by 2034. It was earlier this year that the DCPR 2034 was passed by the government.

    New Metro Links To Boost Noida Property Market

    After the first trial run that was conducted in April between Greater Noida Depot and Sector 147, the second set of runs began on July 25. The trial run is now being conducted between Noida Sector 83 and Greater Noida Metro Depot. The project being developed by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) at an estimated cost of Rs 5,503 crore, is expected to become operational in December this year.

    Small Homes Turn Away Noida-Greater Noida Homebuyers

    In 2018, Noida homebuyers demanded homes that were on an average 1,320 sqf in size, a slightly upward movement when compared to 2017 when the demand was for 1,305 sqf, a joint study by Housing.com and Makaan.com suggests. However, on the supply side, this demand remain unmet with apartments sized at 1,260 sqf in 2018 and 1,290 sqf in 2017. Bigger homes at affordable prices is the only way to bring down the weight of unsold inventory.
