In a move to tame property rates, the Maharashtra government on March 31 maintained status quo on ready reckoner (RR) rates, the government permissible rates below which a property cannot be bought or sold, for financial year 2019-20 (FY20). The state government has last hiked RR rates, also known as guidance vale and circle rates, in 2017. Buyers have to pay stamp duty, registration charges and other taxes on their property purchases based on the RR rates.

Indore’s Super Corridor is an eight-km highway stretch that is being developed as New Indore on the outskirts of the main city. The corridor runs between the Airport Road and MR 10 with a width of 600 m, excluding a 75-m wide road. According to the 2021 Master Plan of the city, over 18 activities on the corridor, including corporate offices, malls and multiplexes, can be taken up along the area.

The Income-Tax (I-T) Department on March 18 challenged the January 29 order in which charges against Shah Rukh Khan were dropped in a benami property issue. The Adjudicating Authority had slammed the department for issuing the order against Khan and a company, in which he, his wife Gauri Khan and in-laws are shareholders. It was in February last year that the actor's Alibaug farmhouse was provisionally attached under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act (PBPT).

After missing many deadlines, the Phase-II of the Mumbai Monorail is now open for public use. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the new route, making the complete Monorail route operational. The new phase will connect Chembur with Jacob Circle. The Monorail passes through the congested residential and commercial hubs of Dadar and Parel, and is expected to decongest local railway network that runs on the similar route.

Circle rate of residential properties in some areas of the Millennium City will double with the Gurugram District Administration hiking the rates for the third time this year, with effect from December 20. Rates were earlier hiked in February and April this year. Areas where collector rates will increase significantly include Dron Vihar, Feroz Gandhi Colony, Virendra Gram, Anand Garden, Chandan Nagar and Bhim Ghar Khedi . Rates have been left unchanged in residential areas where the property is already expensive. These areas include all government-developed sectors and privately built colonies, including DLF.
