New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel is likely to be bought by Katara Holdings, a Qatar-based organisation, for $600 million. Sahara India, which has been under financial debts and has been trying to sell its share in the hotel. It holds 75 per cent stake in the property.

The Delhi Development Authority has approved a proposal for the construction of a flyover between Apsara Border and Ghazipur intersection on the National Highway-24. To be constructed by Delhi’s Public Works Department, the two-km corridor will help decongest some of the key areas of east Delhi.

Since major hurdles are clear, the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) would now complete the mutation process of an 18-km land stretch in favour of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The GMDA would also transfer a 90-metre stretch to the NHAI for construction of the elevated stretch.

For the development of passenger facilities at the Hindon Airport, the Ghaziabad officials had sought to lease land from farmers with an area spanning around 10 acre at Sikandarpur village near the airbase. After the lease formalities were completed, the district administration has now handed over 90 per cent of the land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The Delhi Metro is constructing a Metro line in Ghaziabad that would connect New Bus Stand with Kashmere Gate ISBT, Rohini via Dilshad Garden. The metro line is expected to get operational by September 2018. The new Metro line will pass through the Sahibabad Industrial Area and will significantly impact the residential areas lying in proximity where the infrastructure is poor.
