      BBMP Plans To Hike Property Tax By 25-30%

      With an aim to raise funds for civic infrastructure projects, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) plans to raise property tax by 25-30 per cent on residential as well as non-residential complexes. The hike is expected to bring in additional Rs 500 crore for the authority. The proposal will be tabled in front of the standing committee for approval, and will be moved to the Karnataka government for final implementation from April next year.

      Delhi Metro's Blue Line Extension To Noida Sec 62 To Open In January

      Soon, people working in Noida Sector 62 won’t have to rely on auto-rickshaws and hired cabs for commuting as the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line extension from Noida City Centre to Noida Sector 62 and Electronic City will get operational by January next year. At present, only Delhi Transport Corporation-run buses and private autos are available for public transit in the area. The same is true of several areas of Ghaziabad that lie close to Sector 62.

      Developers, Buyers In Bengaluru Worried Over New NGT Norms

      On December 6, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had issued orders to ban construction activities up to 75 metres from the boundary of stormwater drains (SWDs), also referred to as rajakaluves. Aimed at preserving the Bellandur and Agara lakes that have become highly polluted, the decision by NGT implies serious trouble for those structures that have been built, following the old buffer zone rules. As per earlier NGT regulations, a buffer area of 50 metres for primary stormwater drains, 35 metres for secondary ones and buffer area of 25 metres for tertiary drains has been allowed. Karanataka government will file an appeal, seeking review of the recent ruling.
