The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has completed the taking over of the Suncity Township located at Sector 54 in Gurugram. Spread over 141 acre, the township, with 895 plots, is prone to a flood-like situation during the Monsoon. The MCG has to take over eight private colonies that were developed during the 1980s and where basic infrastructure is often in tatters.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the largest civic body in Asia, should ideally close citizen complaints pertaining to water supply, solid-waste management, etc., in a matter of three days. However, if the findings of a recent report by non-government body Praja Foundation are to be believed, the BMC took an average 46 days to resolve a civic issue in 2018, a minor improvement by 48 days the civic body took in resolving issues in 2017. In 2016, the BMC took an average 19 days to resolve issues, probably because it had lesser complaints to deal with.

Indore’s Super Corridor is an eight-km highway stretch that is being developed as New Indore on the outskirts of the main city. The corridor runs between the Airport Road and MR 10 with a width of 600 m, excluding a 75-m wide road. According to the 2021 Master Plan of the city, over 18 activities on the corridor, including corporate offices, malls and multiplexes, can be taken up along the area.

The Delhi Budget 2019-20 was tabled by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia on February 26 with major allocations set aside for housing, Delhi Metro, electric-vehicle policy and local bodies. Overall, the budget outlay was Rs 60,000 crore with the maximum share going to health, education and transport. The government also extended financial support to local bodies and municipal corporations to oversee projects, their execution and implementation.

Chennai, one of the top five metro cities in India, has been growing leaps and bounds in terms of both infrastructure and real estate. While Delhi has led the way, Chennai, after Mumbai and Bengaluru, has also got its own Metro rail network. The project has two phases. While Phase-I became completely operational in February this year, work on Phase-II is expected to start soon.
